Professor David Stockton
Summary of achievements
As Director of DMU’s Centre for Manufacturing (CforM) and Head of its Lean Engineering Research Group (LERG) I conduct fundamental and applied research, within the disciplines of industrial and service operations management, that is innovative and of strategic importance to the needs of the UK and Europe. I have successfully generated funding in excess of £2 million, the majority of which has been used to support LERG research activities. The academic excellence and industrial relevance of my work is evidenced by the national & international reputation of the major aerospace and automotive organisations who actively support my research. I have an excellent record of high quality publications in leading national and international journals and represent the University on influential external bodies. I participate at regional, national and international levels in terms of exploiting research funding opportunities, research dissemination and publications and collaborative research programmes. I consider the primary strengths of my research contribution to be the ability to develop innovative solutions and to formulate and apply novel modeling techniques to the solution of operations design, planning and control problems.
